VIJAYA DASHAMI

VIJAYA DASHAMI

The Celebration of Victory of Good over Evil, Truth over Falsehood, and Faith over Fear

Vijaya Dashami is one of the most auspicious and spiritually significant festivals of Bharat. Celebrated at the conclusion of Durga Puja, it symbolises the eternal triumph of righteousness over unrighteousness, truth over falsehood, and divine power over evil.

The word Vijaya means victory, while Dashami refers to the tenth day of the lunar fortnight. The festival reminds us that however powerful evil may appear, its victory can never be permanent when truth, courage and righteousness stand firm.

In the Hindu tradition, Vijaya Dashami commemorates Maa Durga’s victory over Mahishasura, the embodiment of arrogance, oppression and destructive forces. It also marks the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana, celebrated as Dussehra in many parts of Bharat. These sacred narratives convey a universal message: power without virtue ultimately leads to downfall, whereas courage guided by righteousness becomes an instrument of justice.

In Bengal, Vijaya Dashami carries a special emotional significance. After days of devotion, worship and celebration, devotees bid farewell to Maa Durga with heavy hearts, praying for her return in the coming year. Sindoor Khela, greetings among family and friends, and the exchange of Subho Bijoya wishes express affection, unity, forgiveness and renewed relationships.

But the true significance of Vijaya Dashami extends beyond rituals and festivities. It invites every individual to conquer the Mahishasura within—the ego that blinds our judgment, the anger that destroys relationships, the greed that weakens integrity, and the hatred that separates human beings.

The greatest victory is not merely the defeat of an external enemy, but the conquest of our own weaknesses.

Let this Vijaya Dashami inspire us to uphold truth, practise compassion, defend justice, respect our cultural heritage and serve humanity with sincerity. May Maa Durga bless everyone with courage, wisdom, prosperity and inner peace.

Shubho Bijoya! Jai Maa Durga! Jai Hind!

TO BE HAPPY, ELIMINATE TWO THINGS The Fear of a Bad Future and the Painful Memories of a Bad Past

TO BE HAPPY, ELIMINATE TWO THINGS

The Fear of a Bad Future and the Painful Memories of a Bad Past

“To be happy, you must learn to let go of two things: the fear of a bad future and the painful memories of a bad past.”

Life is a precious gift, yet many people spend much of their lives struggling with two invisible burdens. One pulls them backwards into yesterday, while the other pushes them anxiously towards tomorrow. As a result, they often fail to experience the beauty, peace and possibilities of today.

The past is gone, and the future has not yet arrived. The only moment we can truly live, act and make a difference in is the present.

Yet, how often do we allow the mistakes, disappointments, betrayals and sufferings of yesterday to rob us of the happiness we could experience today? How often do we imagine disasters that may never happen, anticipate failures that may never occur, and suffer mentally over circumstances that have not yet become reality?

We sometimes suffer twice: first through the actual experience of pain, and then through the endless repetition of that pain in our minds.

1. Release Yourself from the Burden of the Past

The past may contain painful memories, broken relationships, missed opportunities, financial losses, professional disappointments and moments when people failed to recognise our worth. We may also remember occasions when we trusted the wrong people, made decisions that we later regretted, or sacrificed our happiness for those who did not value our sincerity.

These experiences can leave deep impressions upon the mind. But we must understand one fundamental truth: what happened yesterday does not have to determine how we live today.

A mistake is not the end of wisdom; it can be the beginning of understanding. A failure is not necessarily a defeat; it may be an opportunity to discover a better path. Betrayal can teach us the importance of discernment, while disappointment can help us distinguish between our expectations and reality.

We cannot rewrite the pages already written in the book of our lives. However, we can decide what lessons to carry forward and what burdens to leave behind.

Forgiveness does not mean that the wrong committed against us was acceptable. Forgetting does not mean abandoning justice. Moving forward does not require us to trust everyone again or expose ourselves to repeated harm.

It simply means that we refuse to allow yesterday's wounds to exercise permanent control over today's peace.

Learn from the past, correct your mistakes, seek justice where necessary, and protect your dignity. But do not allow painful memories to become the permanent residents of your mind.

Remember the lesson, not merely the pain. Preserve the wisdom, not the bitterness. Carry the experience, not the emotional chains.

Your past may explain some of your struggles, but it does not have to dictate your future.

2. Free Yourself from the Fear of the Future

The second obstacle to happiness is the fear of what may happen tomorrow.

What if I fail? What if I lose my position? What if my plans do not succeed? What if people turn against me? What if my health, relationships, finances or professional life do not develop as expected?

Such questions are natural. Planning for the future is a responsibility, and anticipating genuine risks can help us prepare wisely. But there is a difference between preparing for uncertainty and becoming a prisoner of anxiety.

Preparation gives us direction; excessive fear takes away our peace.

The future is uncertain for everyone. No amount of worrying can guarantee that everything will happen according to our wishes. Nor can fear protect us from every disappointment. What it can do, however, is deprive us of the strength, clarity and confidence required to face real challenges when they arise.

Instead of repeatedly asking, “What if something goes wrong?”, we should also ask, “What can I do today to improve my chances of a better tomorrow?”

Develop your abilities. Perform your duties sincerely. Make sensible decisions. Maintain your integrity. Take precautions where necessary. Build meaningful relationships. And when circumstances remain beyond your control, learn to accept uncertainty without surrendering your inner peace.

Courage does not mean believing that nothing bad will ever happen. Courage means trusting that, whatever difficulties may arise, we will meet them with reason, patience, dignity and determination.

Do not sacrifice the happiness of today to the fear of a tomorrow that may never unfold as you imagine.

3. The Present Is Where Life Happens

The past is a memory, and the future is a possibility. The present is where our choices become actions.

We cannot change yesterday by regretting it, and we cannot secure tomorrow merely by worrying about it. But we can make today meaningful through our conduct, decisions and attitude.

If you have made a mistake, learn from it.

If you have suffered a loss, allow yourself time to heal.

If someone has wronged you, respond with wisdom rather than allowing resentment to consume you.

If the future appears uncertain, prepare as best you can and take the next reasonable step.

If life has not given you everything you desired, recognise and value what remains within your reach.

Happiness does not demand a perfect past or a guaranteed future. It requires the ability to find meaning in the present, even while acknowledging that life has its share of difficulties.

Sometimes happiness is not about acquiring something new. It is about releasing the unnecessary weight we have been carrying for too long.

4. Protect Your Peace Without Abandoning Your Responsibilities

True happiness should never be confused with indifference, carelessness or the refusal to face reality.

We must remember our responsibilities, learn from our experiences, pursue justice, plan for our families and work towards our ambitions. But we must do these things with a balanced mind rather than a heart overwhelmed by regret or fear.

We can be ambitious without being anxious.

We can remember without remaining trapped.

We can be cautious without becoming suspicious of everything.

We can pursue justice without allowing hatred to define our lives.

And we can prepare for tomorrow without forgetting to live today.

The secret lies in understanding what is within our control and what is not. Our actions, intentions, discipline and responses are largely ours to shape. Other people's behaviour, unexpected events and the ultimate outcome of every effort are not always within our command.

Let us therefore invest our energy where it can make a difference.

5. Choose Peace, Courage and Hope

Life will not always follow the path we have planned. Some people will disappoint us. Some opportunities will disappear. Some efforts will fail despite our sincerity. And some questions may remain unanswered for a long time.

But none of these realities means that happiness is permanently beyond our reach.

Every sunrise brings another opportunity to act differently, think more clearly and live more meaningfully. Every new day gives us a chance to replace resentment with understanding, fear with preparation, and helplessness with constructive action.

We do not need to deny our pain to become happy. We need to ensure that pain does not become the only story we tell ourselves.

We do not need to know every detail of tomorrow to live with hope. We need to possess the courage to face tomorrow when it arrives.

And we do not need to erase every memory of yesterday. We need to stop allowing yesterday to steal the possibilities of today.

The Final Message

Let the past be your teacher, not your prison. Let the future be your destination, not your source of constant fear. Let the present be your opportunity to live, grow, contribute and find peace.

Do not spend your precious life mourning what cannot be changed or fearing what has not yet happened.

Learn from yesterday. Prepare wisely for tomorrow. But live fully today.

Because happiness is not the assurance that nothing bad will ever happen. It is the wisdom to accept life's uncertainties, the strength to overcome its challenges, and the courage to preserve hope despite its disappointments.

Release the burden of yesterday. Reduce the fear of tomorrow. Embrace the possibilities of today.

That is not merely a philosophy of happiness; it is a way of living with greater freedom, dignity and inner peace.

Joy Hind!

HE WHO IS EVERYWHERE IS NOWHERE

“HE WHO IS EVERYWHERE IS NOWHERE”

The Philosophy of Presence, Purpose and Commitment

In life, being present everywhere does not necessarily mean being truly present anywhere.

A person who tries to be everywhere, attend to everything, please everyone and participate in every affair may ultimately fail to give sufficient attention to anything that truly matters. Presence without purpose, visibility without contribution, and activity without commitment often become nothing more than an illusion of importance.

Life is not measured by the number of places we visit, the people we meet, the gatherings we attend, or the number of times our names appear in public. The real measure of a person's worth lies in the depth of his contribution, the sincerity of his intentions, and the consistency with which he fulfils his responsibilities.

A wise person understands that time, energy and attention are limited resources. Therefore, wisdom lies not in being available everywhere, but in being genuinely available where one's presence makes a difference.

A tree does not grow stronger by spreading its roots everywhere without depth. It grows strong by establishing firm roots in the soil. Similarly, a person does not achieve greatness merely by extending his influence in every direction. True greatness emerges from dedication to a chosen purpose, steadfastness in principles, and the courage to remain committed even when nobody is watching.

Those who chase every opportunity may lose sight of their ultimate destination. Those who seek everyone's approval may gradually lose their own identity. And those who wish to occupy every platform may eventually discover that they have established themselves firmly on none.

This does not mean that one should avoid society, refuse responsibilities, or remain confined within narrow boundaries. Rather, it means that every engagement should have a purpose, every commitment should carry sincerity, and every appearance should be supported by meaningful action.

Be present where your presence is needed. Speak when your words can illuminate the truth. Act when circumstances demand responsibility. Stand firm when principles are challenged. And, above all, learn to distinguish between being seen and being valuable.

In public life, professional life and personal relationships alike, quality of commitment is far more important than quantity of appearances. A person who stands firmly beside a just cause during difficult times is worth more than a hundred people who appear only when success is assured.

Ultimately, the objective should not be to become a familiar face everywhere, but to become a dependable person wherever duty calls.

Let us, therefore, remember:

Be everywhere in your goodwill, but be somewhere in your commitment.

Be universal in your humanity, but unwavering in your principles.

Do not merely occupy space; create value. Do not merely attract attention; earn respect. Do not merely appear; contribute.

For the person who attempts to be everywhere may find himself firmly established nowhere, whereas the person who dedicates himself sincerely to a worthy purpose can leave an impact far beyond the boundaries of his physical presence.

“Be known not for how often you appear, but for how much your presence matters.”

BHARAT: A NATION THE WORLD WANTS TO BEFRIEND

BHARAT: A NATION THE WORLD WANTS TO BEFRIEND

A Civilisation Rooted in Wisdom, Confidence, and Self-Respect

Countries across the world are increasingly seeking closer engagement with Bharat. Nations are exploring opportunities to strengthen diplomatic relations, expand economic cooperation, promote technological partnerships, and work together on matters of global importance. The growing international attention towards Bharat reflects the importance of its economy, its strategic position, its cultural heritage, and its expanding role in international affairs.

Ultimately, the world is increasingly recognising that Bharat cannot be understood merely through the narrow lens of contemporary geopolitics. To understand Bharat, one must appreciate its civilisational depth, its resilience through centuries of change, its commitment to independent decision-making, and its enduring belief that national dignity must never be compromised for temporary convenience.

What distinguishes Bharat's journey is not simply the ambition to become wealthier or more influential. It is also the determination to pursue development while preserving its identity, traditions, and fundamental civilisational values.

Bharat's heritage teaches us that prosperity is important, but prosperity without principles can become hollow. Power has its place, but power without responsibility can become destructive. International friendship is valuable, but friendship must be built upon mutual respect rather than one-sided expectations.

The Hallmarks of Bharat's Identity

1. The determination to rise without abandoning principles

Bharat aspires to economic advancement, scientific achievement, technological leadership, and improved living standards for its people. Yet its national aspirations can also be understood through the desire to preserve strategic autonomy and make decisions in accordance with its own assessment of national interests.

A confident nation does not need to imitate every other country. It learns from the world, adopts what is beneficial, rejects what is unsuitable, and develops solutions appropriate to its own circumstances.

2. A rich and enduring civilisational heritage

Bharat's cultural inheritance encompasses philosophy, literature, mathematics, medicine, art, architecture, spirituality, and diverse traditions of learning. Its pluralistic society contains many languages, customs, and ways of worship, all contributing to a complex national identity.

The wisdom of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—the world is one family—offers a powerful reminder that national pride need not require hostility towards other nations.

Bharat can celebrate its own heritage while respecting the histories and identities of others.

3. Remaining connected to the fundamentals

In a rapidly changing world, nations are often compelled to reconsider their economic priorities, diplomatic relationships, security arrangements, and technological strategies.

Bharat's challenge is to modernise without losing sight of the fundamentals: family, community, education, social responsibility, cultural continuity, and respect for human dignity.

Tradition should not mean resistance to every change. Rather, it should provide a foundation from which change can be evaluated with maturity, discernment, and wisdom.

4. Learning from the past while preparing for the future

Bharat's history contains extraordinary achievements as well as difficult chapters. A mature understanding of that history requires both pride in its accomplishments and an honest examination of its shortcomings.

The past becomes truly glorious when it inspires present generations to pursue excellence, overcome injustice, strengthen institutions, and build a better future.

The objective is not merely to remember history, but to learn from it.

5. The courage to speak plainly

International relations require diplomacy, patience, negotiation, and compromise. Nevertheless, diplomacy need not mean surrendering one's independent judgment.

Bharat's aspiration to articulate its concerns openly and defend its legitimate interests reflects the broader principle that every sovereign nation deserves to have its voice heard.

Speaking plainly is most effective when it is accompanied by evidence, consistency, restraint, and respect for international obligations.

A nation's credibility grows when its words and actions demonstrate a recognisable set of principles.

When the World Recalibrates, Bharat Must Remain Steadfast

The international order is continually evolving. Countries reassess their alliances, diversify their economic relationships, secure supply chains, and respond to emerging geopolitical realities.

In such circumstances, Bharat's task is neither to follow every prevailing trend blindly nor to reject the world around it. Its responsibility is to engage constructively while preserving the freedom to make sovereign choices.

The true meaning of strategic autonomy is not isolation from the world; it is the ability to cooperate with the world without surrendering independent judgment.

Bharat can work with one country on trade, another on technology, another on energy, and several others on climate, security, education, or public health. Such relationships need not be identical. Each can be guided by mutual interests, reciprocal respect, and clearly defined responsibilities.

This approach requires patience and consistency. It also requires the wisdom to distinguish between temporary diplomatic disagreements and enduring national interests.

Leadership and the Role of the Prime Minister

Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government of India has placed considerable emphasis on India's international engagement, domestic development, infrastructure, digital public services, manufacturing, and the promotion of Indian cultural identity on the global stage.

Supporters of the Prime Minister regard his emphasis on national confidence, international outreach, and India's independent voice as important features of the country's contemporary journey. The broader assessment of any leadership, however, must also consider measurable outcomes, institutional performance, economic opportunities, social welfare, and the concerns of citizens.

National progress is never the work of one individual alone. It involves the collective contribution of India's citizens, farmers, workers, entrepreneurs, scientists, teachers, armed forces, civil servants, and countless others who serve the country in different capacities.

Leadership can provide direction and momentum, but the lasting strength of a nation ultimately rests upon its people and institutions.

Therefore, those who credit Prime Minister Narendra Modi for advancing Bharat's international profile should also recognise the responsibility that accompanies leadership: to translate national aspirations into tangible improvements in the lives of ordinary citizens.

The Message to the World

Bharat does not need every nation to agree with every decision it makes. Nor should international friendship be measured merely by the number of countries standing in a diplomatic queue.

What matters is the quality of those relationships: whether they promote peace, generate economic opportunities, strengthen mutual security, encourage innovation, and contribute to the welfare of humanity.

Let the world engage with Bharat through dialogue rather than prejudice, cooperation rather than coercion, and mutual respect rather than condescension.

Let Bharat continue to draw strength from its heritage while embracing science, modernity, and progressive ideas. Let it remain confident without becoming arrogant, assertive without becoming hostile, and proud without diminishing the dignity of others.

A truly confident Bharat does not need to abandon its roots to reach the world. It can stand firmly upon its foundations while extending its hands in friendship to every nation willing to engage with mutual respect.

That is the spirit of a civilisation moving forward: preserving its identity, learning from experience, embracing opportunity, and contributing to a more peaceful and prosperous world.

BHARAT: A REFINERY OF IDEAS, A SANCTUARY OF SOULS, AND A BEACON OF HUMANITY

BHARAT: A REFINERY OF IDEAS, A SANCTUARY OF SOULS, AND A BEACON OF HUMANITY

Bharat is not merely a global powerhouse in oil refining; Bharat is also a civilisational refinery—a land capable of refining crooked ideas, transforming narrow minds, and inspiring humanity to rediscover the noblest values of life.

Come to Bharat. Visit Bharat frequently. Explore its extraordinary diversity, experience its timeless wisdom, and allow yourself to be embraced by the warmth and compassion of its people.

From the snow-covered peaks of the Himalayas to the sacred rivers of the plains, from the magnificent temples of ancient civilisation to the modern wonders of science and technology, from the tranquil villages to the vibrant metropolitan cities, Bharat offers an experience that touches the heart, stimulates the intellect, and awakens the soul.

Bharat is not merely a destination to be visited; it is a civilisation to be experienced.

Here, the beauty of nature meets the depth of philosophy. Spirituality walks alongside scientific advancement. Ancient traditions coexist with modern aspirations. The message of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—the world is one family—continues to inspire the Indian outlook towards humanity.

Come with an open mind, and Bharat may broaden your intellectual horizons. Come with a troubled heart, and the kindness of its people may offer comfort. Come burdened by the anxieties of life, and the tranquillity of its spiritual traditions may help you rediscover inner peace.

The compassionate touch of Bharat lies in its hospitality, its culture of service, its respect for human dignity, and its enduring belief that humanity is greater than hatred. Although no country can promise to cure every physical or emotional ailment, the serenity of nature, the support of caring people, and the wisdom of spiritual reflection can certainly contribute to a sense of well-being and renewal.

Bharat invites every visitor to look beyond prejudice, question inherited misconceptions, and replace hostility with understanding. Let rigid minds become receptive to new ideas. Let bitterness give way to compassion. Let ignorance be challenged by knowledge, and let arrogance be humbled by wisdom.

This is the true refinement that Bharat can offer—not the destruction of people, but the transformation of perspectives; not the humiliation of opponents, but the elevation of human consciousness.

And what about the “Indentured Servants”?

History reminds us of the suffering, sacrifice, and resilience of those who were taken far from their homeland under systems of indentured labour. Their descendants, along with the wider Indian diaspora, have carried fragments of India's language, culture, traditions, and memories across continents. Their story is a testament to human endurance and the remarkable ability of a civilisation to preserve its identity despite adversity.

If the expression “Indentured Servants” is used metaphorically for those who remain mentally captive to crooked ideas, outdated prejudices, or inherited hostility, then Bharat's invitation is equally clear: come, engage, learn, reflect, and allow reason to prevail over resentment.

Bharat does not need to conquer every mind to make its message heard. Its civilisational strength lies in the power of ideas, the richness of its heritage, the achievements of its people, and the universal appeal of compassion.

The world is welcome to visit Bharat—not merely to witness its economic growth or industrial capabilities, but also to understand the civilisational spirit that continues to shape its journey.

Visit Bharat for its beauty. Return for its warmth. Remember it for its wisdom. And carry home a little more humanity than you brought with you.

That is the promise of an India confident in its heritage, committed to its progress, and conscious of its responsibilities towards the world.
