The police force in West Bengal has, on many occasions, demonstrated professionalism, dedication, and commitment in maintaining law and order under challenging circumstances. With operational independence and steadfast adherence to the rule of law, both the West Bengal Police and the Kolkata Police have the opportunity to uphold their long and distinguished legacy of public service.
Credit should be extended to the leadership wherever effective policing, prompt action, and institutional discipline contribute to public confidence. Strong leadership, efficient administration, and a commitment to constitutional values are essential for any law enforcement agency to perform its duties effectively.
At the same time, national security remains a matter of paramount importance. Any attempt by hostile foreign actors to unlawfully influence, destabilize, or undermine India's sovereignty, public order, or constitutional institutions should be investigated thoroughly and dealt with strictly in accordance with the law. Where credible intelligence or evidence exists of foreign-sponsored unlawful activities, it is appropriate for specialized and highly trained units to monitor and investigate such threats within the framework of the Constitution and applicable laws, while respecting the fundamental rights and civil liberties guaranteed to every citizen.
India's strength lies in its democracy, where lawful criticism, intellectual debate, academic inquiry, and freedom of expression coexist with the responsibility to protect the nation's security and integrity. Any action against individuals or organizations should always be based on credible evidence and due process, not merely on differences of opinion or ideological viewpoints.
The police are not the enemies of the people. They are public servants entrusted with the solemn responsibility of protecting life, liberty, and property, preventing crime, and preserving peace. Mutual trust, cooperation, and respect between citizens and law enforcement agencies are indispensable for a safe, secure, and prosperous nation.
