Chhathi Maiya, also known as Usha, is the Goddess of dawn and consort of Surya Dev, the Sun God. Mentioned in the Rigveda, she symbolizes light, hope, and new beginnings, driving away darkness and awakening life each morning. In the Mahabharata, it is believed that Kunti and Draupadi worshipped Surya and Usha for blessings of strength and prosperity, linking Chhath Puja to ancient Vedic traditions. Chhathi Maiya is revered as a protective mother who grants health, happiness, and longevity to children. Her worship during Chhath Puja signifies purity, gratitude, and the eternal bond between humans and nature, reminding devotees of the divine power that sustains life and renews the world each day.
