Short Essay on Chhath Puja
Chhath Puja is an important Hindu festival mainly celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and some parts of West Bengal and Nepal. It is dedicated to the worship of the Sun God (Surya Dev) and his consort Chhathi Maiya, who are believed to bless devotees with health, happiness, and prosperity.
The festival takes place six days after Diwali and continues for four days. On the first day, known as Nahay Khay, devotees bathe in holy water and eat pure vegetarian food. The second day, Kharna, involves fasting from sunrise to sunset, followed by offering kheer and fruits. On the third day, Sandhya Arghya, devotees offer prayers to the setting sun, and on the final day, Usha Arghya, offerings are made to the rising sun.
Chhath Puja is known for its strict rituals, cleanliness, and eco-friendly practices. The festival symbolizes gratitude toward nature and the solar energy that sustains life on earth. It teaches devotion, discipline, and the importance of purity in both thought and action.
