“कालात् महत्तराः भवन्ति भावाः; सुविधानुसारं व्यययन्तु।”
With the passage of time, genuine emotions become increasingly precious. Therefore, invest them only in those who understand and value them.
Human emotions—love, trust, care, respect, loyalty, forgiveness and compassion—are among life’s greatest treasures. They cannot be purchased with money or recovered easily once they have been repeatedly ignored, misused or betrayed. As we grow older, we realise that material losses may sometimes be repaired, but emotional wounds often leave lasting marks upon the heart.
Not everyone deserves unlimited access to our feelings. Some people appreciate sincere affection and respond with gratitude, while others take kindness for granted and mistake patience for weakness. Therefore, emotional generosity should always be accompanied by wisdom. We must learn to distinguish between those who genuinely care for us and those who remain close only for their own convenience.
Spending emotions wisely does not mean becoming cold, selfish or suspicious. It means preserving our dignity and maintaining healthy boundaries. Love deeply, but do not lose your self-respect. Help others, but do not allow yourself to be exploited. Forgive mistakes, but do not repeatedly tolerate deliberate disrespect. Trust people, but also observe whether their conduct justifies that trust.
Time teaches us that true relationships are not maintained by words alone. They are sustained by mutual respect, consistent effort, honest communication and presence during difficult moments. The person who understands your silence, respects your vulnerability and stands beside you without selfish motives is worthy of your deepest affection.
Our heart is precious, and its emotions should never be wasted where they are neither understood nor respected. Give your love to those who protect it, your trust to those who honour it, and your time to those who genuinely value your presence.
In the end, emotional maturity lies not merely in knowing how to love, but also in knowing whom to love, how much to give and when to step away with dignity.
